Focus: shipment of medical supplies to Guatemala in support of US volunteer surgical team that supports locals unable to access surgical treatment; equipment we're shipping will expand birthing facility and better equip labs of medical school that supports clinic; ongoing project supported by Tysons Rotarian Mark Weishedel, Rotary Club of McLean and Rotary Internat'l

Ugandan Water Project
Focus: provision of supplies for water project to drill new wells in vicinity of Buganda University, specifically to help local women in daily lives; Duke University has committed to drilling wells
TCRC commitment for this year: Board voted to contribute $5000 for the year (to be held in account for expensing when/if project ready to launch)

Comment: The Fort Meyer/Rosslyn RC is the primary sponsor for this project with local Ugandan RC. FM/RRC member Dr. John Veldhuis, President of Buganda U is POC for the project. District and International Rotary have committed to matching funds.
NOTE: Dec2009/Jan2010 correspondence with Veldhuis described current "on hold" status of project due to 1) cut back of RI's hunger health and humanitarian matching funds, and 2) difficulties with reporting from Ugandan Rotary Club partner. Foundation Board meeting of 21Jan2010 agreed to hold funds until receipt of decisive word from Veldhuis.
