I can´t believe I´ve already been here a month, time sure does fly! I´m still having trouble understanding everyone, but I know I´m learning. I´ve been meeting a lot of new people and trying lots of new things. This week I didn´t have school (Chile´s independence day is the 18th and it´s a big deal) and my brother and sister, from Santiago (the capital) came to vist. With them and my cousin I went to San Pedro de Atacama (a city about 4 hours away). It is a really cool small town with lots of shops, hotels, and restaurants. We went to Valle del Luna (valley of the moon), which was beautiful. It actually resembles the moon(there is a lot of salt on the land) and there are mountains everywhere. We hiked on what seemed like an elevated path, which gave us beautiful views of the Andes Mountains. The sun started to set and even though we couldn´t see it the sky turned brilliant colors of purple, red, orange, and pink. The next day we went to what felt like the middle of no where with three small lakes. The lakes were so full of salt you could float! The water was freezing, but again there were beautiful views of mountains surrounding me. The past two days lots of family has come to my house to celebrate September 18th and 19th. There is dancing, music, and tons of food! I hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather (my mom says it´s been quite nice). I´ll keep in touch!
