HOW ARE THE BOOKS UTILIZED?

At every step of the collection and processing process, care is taken to assure that all books are productively utilized.  The original intent of the program was expanded from text books for school children to include reading materials for hospital patients, the elderly, and prisoners.

WHAT KINDS OF BOOKS ARE NEEDED?

What is needed are used textbooks of all kinds, children’s storybooks, reference books, teacher’s resources, encyclopedias, and English dictionaries.  Pre-school board books are very much appreciated, too, as are educational magazines such as National Geographic and Scientific American.  Foreign language texts such as Spanish, German, etc. are also sent.

WHO ARE TYPICAL DONORS?

We receive books from many sources including schools, libraries, and individuals.  Key contacts in schools include administrators, principals, teachers, administrative assistants, and librarians.  “Friends” of libraries are also a very good source of books for all age groups.  Individuals often donate children’s storybooks.
