Our cistern project is 80% complete!

Several years ago the School Orchards Africa Society came to do a presentation for our club about building orchards at schools in Iringa, Tanzania. It became evident that their main challenge was to capture water during the rainy season for the use of both people and orchards during the dry season. Our member, Leighton Mellemstrand has led the effort for our club to help with funding to build a cistern for this purpose, hopefully with more to follow at the other schools. The project is well underway with the help of local Rotary clubs but it's not easy work. Leighton will be travelling to Africa once again to see the finished project.
