Rotary Cares!
The Rotary Club of Hartford has just concluded a project, funded in part by a District 7890 grant, to provide hygiene supplies to clients of Covenant to Care for Children, a Hartford-based nonprofit that serves children from birth to 18 statewide who are in danger of abuse or neglect and in need of critical goods (
More than a dozen Hartford Rotary members, family, friends; and our partners, the CT Foundation for Dental Outreach (with a grant from Cigna), and Interpreters and Translators, Inc. of Manchester; ordered, packed and delivered 346 hygiene "Placement Packs" to Covenant to Care. Leftover supplies that were given to clients’ families.
“For over 100 years, the Rotary Club of Hartford has been serving the Hartford community. We were pleased to partner with Covenant to Care and help provide comfort to those in need especially during the Covid pandemic,” said Sue Joyse, President of Hartford Rotary.
The hygiene packs included basic needs for babies, such as lotion and soap; and COVID safety and other hygiene items for youth and teens, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and other oral care products; and soap, hand sanitizer, deodorant, hair brushes and other basic goods that families can't buy with state assistance.
Club members also donated additional soap, a dozen Rotary-branded backpacks, two baby carriages (one single and one double) the CT Foundation for Dental Outreach donated tote bags. Club members also donated holiday gift cards.
This project was supported by a District 7890 Grant of $1,821 and a Rotary Club of Hartford contribution of $910 for a project total of $2,731. The Rotary Area of Focus this project addressed is hygiene, child health, and disease prevention.
