GORHAM-WESTBROOK 100TH INVITE! Our friends over at the Gorham-Westbrook Rotary are celebrating their 100th Anniversary, and they're hosting a fun fellowship celebration, Thursday April 9th! It's over at the Westbrook Regional Vocational Dining Room, One Vocational Drive, at 6pm. $15 for delicious appetizers, mocktails, dinner, fellowship, and stories. BOWLING NIGHT! We were in a league of our own last week as close to 20 Rotarians gathered at Broadway Bowl for a really fun night. About half bowled, some strikes, some splits, some off the mark, but all with style. The
"Best Bowling Shirt Award" went to the stylish Doug Packard, pictured top right! Great fun and fellowship. We'll work on our scores, there is room for improvement.
CORKS AND CAPS: Jerry and Katharine Wall invite all those with an interest in wine to attend the online spring meeting of "Corks and Caps" this Sunday, March 29th, 6p-7p. This is regional zoom, part of the international Rotary Wine Appreciation Fellowship group, a fascinating way to meet people who share similar interests. Two wines from Australia are the topic for this session! The idea is that you purchase the wine locally, and then enjoy it with the group.Email Jerry if you would like to join the zoom, he can email you the details with a link ID and Passcode.
Check out all the Fellowship Groups online! Also, Jerry will be making a presentation at the upcoming Rotary Opportunity Workshop on how much fun it is to join a group. Over 60 different areas of hobbies and interests, one of Rotary's best kept secrets to explore!
IN MEMORIAM: For some of our members who've been in the club a while, you'll remember Toby Cook who passed away on March 12, age 74. Toby was a good friend of Bill Blount, and an active member of our club back in the 90's before relocating to Montana to be closer to his daughter. Our condolences to the family.
NEW MEMBER NOTIFICATION: 1st Notice: We have two new applicants! Daniel Mickiewicz, who resides in South Portland, and has been a busy Interact and Rotaract member since 2017. He has been on the RYLA staff, and is training to become the 2027 RYLA Camp Director. Anna Klein-Christie from Portland, the Executive Director at Baxter Academy. She has been to our club often introducing Baxter students for our Student Award, and notes that Rotary has been supporting her work with Day One, Rippleffect, and Safe Passage for 20 years. These will be printed a 2nd time and then move to the Board of Directors for a vote.If any Portland Rotarian would like to offer a comment on these two proposals, please contact Laura Young or Bowen Depke. It will be shared with the Board of Directors prior to a vote on the application.
