This Week's Speaker: Our New President, Dick Hall, Version 2.O and RYLA Program Update
Dick Hall will take the gavel as our 2023-2024 President, and provide us with his overview and goals for the year. As most of you know, Dick is our first president to serve a second term, previously serving 2006-2007. Dick also served as District Governor 7780 2021-2022.
The second half of our program will feature a presentation from RYLA Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) students, fresh off their recent conference.
Dick was the third generation to join the Worcester, MA Rotary in 1984, following his grandfather Preston Hall and was sponsored by his father 1987-88 7910 District Governor Ed Hall. He then moved to the Lewiston-Auburn ME Rotary in 1990 and then the Portland ME Rotary Club in 1997.
Dick is a University of Maine (BSME) and Boston University (MBA) graduate, and a professional engineer licensed in multiple states. His work includes solar & wind farms, utility substations, electric transmission lines and environmental cleanup projects.
Dick has been married 29 years to Andrea (Andy), and he has two children and two grandchildren. Dick and Andy split their time year-round between their home in Portland and their camp, Little Loon, on Rangeley Lake.

All flags will be on display at the the Maine Mall this September. Sponsoring your hero is easy. You can sponsor a flag to honor your hero with a $100 contribution, and 100% goes to help the Rotary Club of Portland provide service to people in need.
Scan the QR code with your phone camera, or visit www.portlandrotary.org and click “Flags for Heroes” to contribute with a credit card. You can also download a sponsor form and mail it with a check to Portland Rotary PO Box 1755, Portland Maine 04104-1755.
Going Green: Amy Chipman led the charge to participate in a Cultivating Community project last Wednesday June 28th. Cultivating Community’s programs empower New Americans by teaching them sustainable farming practices and connecting them to the community. Mike Fortunato shared pictures of the gardening exhibition.
More Green - Garden Party Social Event! Special thanks to Eric Greven and Susan Vayda, who hosted a marvelously timed event in between all the rain we've had in the past week at their home in Falmouth. Their beautiful backyard garden was a lovely setting for our Thursday Night Social, while also raising some money for our International Service committee.
