Justin is the incoming President of the Rotary Club of Portland and a member of the club since 2011. Professionally, Justin is Managing Partner and Designated Broker at The Dunham Group, a commercial real estate brokerage firm based in Portland. Justin is also actively involved in the community, including service on the board of the Maine Cancer Foundation, youth sports organizations, and other local nonprofit efforts.
Justin’s presentation will serve as an introduction to his year as Club President and the themes he hopes to emphasize as we begin a new Rotary year. His remarks will center around the idea of empowerment and engagement — helping every member find a meaningful place in the work of the club and encouraging broader participation across committees, service projects, fellowship, and leadership opportunities.
He will also share a bit of his own story using the framework of the “Four H’s” — History, Heroes, Heartbreak, and Hope — reflecting on the experiences, people, and challenges that have shaped his approach to service, work and family.
The presentation will also introduce the theme of ASPIRE, a practical framework he learned at PELS for the year ahead: Assess, Say Thank You, Prepare, Inspire, Recharge and Renew, and Engage Through Service. Justin’s goal is not to reinvent what already makes the Rotary Club of Portland strong, but to build on its foundation, support the people doing the work, and invite every member to “raise their hand” in some way.

FLAGS ARE FLYING, BUT WATCH OUT FOR FOUL BALLS!
By all accounts, our “Flags For Heroes” presentation at the Portland Sea Dogs game this past Sunday was a rousing success. Not only did we go into the event surpassing our fundraising goal of $20k, but we drew another beautiful blue sky sunny day. With help from the Summit Project and veterans attending the game, we marched out 204 flags onto the Delta Dental Field, and it looked wonderful. Each flag was a tribute to someone's personal hero, heroes from all walks of life. Veterans and first responders, to teachers and coaches, to family members and friends, every flag honored people who stepped up in a time of need to help.
…TAKING ONE FOR THE TEAM: The first photo below we see Event Chair Charlie Frair giving directions to the troops.All good. However, after the game, Charlie was standing in the parking lot having a conversation with a group of Rotarians, when he was hit directly on the top of the head by a foul ball. It was loud, just like the crack of a bat, and Charlie went down hard. The first few minutes were pretty tense and concerning. As the medics and ambulance arrived, Charlie was coming around, but it still resulted in a trip to Mercy. Ultimately, all was ok. The only stitches in his head were from the ball. Not so funny then, but now a story that will live on for a long time. The bottom pic, Charlie departing the scene, feeling much better! The good news is that he got to keep the ball.
READING IS FUNDAMENTAL! Mike Fortunato was at the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine, reading books to youngsters, part of our summer outreach youth education program. Good job Mike!
