Ever since 1980, Rotary has had a float in the Rose Parade. With a viewing audience of 45 million households in the United States and millions more worldwide, the Rose Parade is Rotary’s biggest Public Image event of the year.
The theme of this year’s float is “On the Road with Rotary.” (Looks like Animal House!) If you look closely at the 2025 float, you’ll see RI President Stephanie Urchick on a road trip. Be sure to watch Rotary in the Rose Parade this morning if you opened your WJ in time - Wednesday, January 1, starting at 11:00 AM.
And, if you were watching the Rose Parade in 1971, you would have seen the future President of Portland Rotary, none other than Patty Byers as a Rose Princess!
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE: In the January 2025 issue of the Rotary Magazine, we are thrilled to see that Roger and Liz Fagan are featured in a full page story about their respective careers in audiology and speech pathology, leading of course to their work in the Dominican Republic. Not only highly deserving, but timely too, as we are raising money to support the building of a hearing clinic. The Fagan's are everything that Service Above Self stands for, our international power couple! We're so happy to see that their ongoing story has found its way to the world audience of Rotarians, inspiring to all, helpful to so many. While we have included the photo and story here, be sure to check it out in the magazine itself to feel the full impact of this noteworthy story.
