News of The Rotary Club of Portland, Maine
July 9, 2025
THIS WEEK'S EVENT: Our meeting this week will be at the home of the Portland SeaDogs, the Delta Dental field, Portland. This is our annual "Picnic Lunch" down the right field, under the pavilion. The gate will be open at 11:30am. Note that the lunch price is $35.

Our special guest speakers from the Sea Dogs organization: Emma Tiedemann (Radio Voice of the Sea Dogs) and Chad Epperson (Manager of the Sea Dogs). They'll be sharing insights about the team and the upcoming 2025 season, followed by a Q&A session. We'll also get a fantastic tour of the facility!

FLAGS FOR HEROES TAKES CENTER STAGE

The Flags Committee has been working hard for 9 months to organize and execute our largest profile and fundraising event for Portland Rotary. This is the weekend that it all comes together! At the meeting this Friday, Charlie Frair will let everyone know just how successful it is turning out to be.

Please, we still need volunteers to jump in this Sunday!
200 American flags will take the field, pre-game this Sunday, July 13th.  We have numbers, but if you can be one of our flag bearers to march on the field, we could use you. Be at the parking lot just behind first base at 11:30am. You'll be issued two flags to carry on the field at noon. We'll give you all the directions!   (If you did not purchase a game ticket, you'll have to buy one at the ticket window.)

We'll have a booth inside the corridor, with information and flyers to pass out. We learned last year that people loved what we're doing, and they come over to the booth to talk to us about the flag program. It's a great experience.
Talk to Niki Curtis and Jan Chapman if you can help out.
THAT NIGHT.....After the SeaDogs presentation, we need to pack up the flags. We'll meet up at 6pm Sunday evening at the Maine Mall on the Best Buy corridor, unload, unfurl, and set the flags up for a two week display. The more hands the better! If you show up, there is plenty to do.Nothing heavy!
