This Week's Meeting: Martha Bentley "Helping Small Businesses Start Operations"
Martha Bentley currently wears many hats, including co-founder of Proprietor, a membership community for buyers and sellers of very small businesses; owner of MMB Collaborative Leadership LLC, a values-driven practice specializing in fractional non-profit leadership, innovation & entrepreneurship; and Executive Director of the Osher Map Library Foundation.
Martha previously served as Director of Economic Development Coordination for the State of Maine and as the Director of Innovation Infrastructure for the Maine Technology Institute (MTI). Prior to these roles, she owned her own consulting company specializing in grant program design and management, with MTI as her primary client managing $200M+ in technology-based economic development funding. She is a leader in Maine’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and was the program and operational manager for Blackstone Accelerates Growth, which became Maine Accelerates Growth.

SUNRISE CLUB PARTY TONIGHT! Wed Nov 15th, 5:30pm!
Art Howe wants all to know our Sunrise Satellite Rotary Club will be having a social gathering at Coals Pizza tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 15th from 5:30 to 7 PM ...or later. They have numerous beers, along with wine, hard cider, and a few cocktails. Their pizzas are unique.Coals is located at 118 Preble Street, Portland, very near the Forest Avenue exit/entrance to I-295. Portland Rotary Club members, please spread the word as widely as possible.

COAT DRIVE: Portland High School is having a Coat Drive! They are looking for gently used coats or below you'll find a link where you can give new coats from their wish list. You can also just write a check to "Coat Angels" and mail it to Portland High School, C/O Andrea Levinsky. The address is:
284 Cumberland Avenue, Portland, ME 04101. Their goal is to give the coats to students by Thanksgiving. Amy Chipman will be at the meeting this Friday so if you want to bring coats or checks to the meeting, she will bring them over to the High School. PUT TO BED: Our green thumb volunteers chipped in to help the Boyd Street Community Garden in Portland weatherize for the winter. Getting things weeded and mulched were Dick Hall, Bruce Nickerson, Ellen Niewoehner, Amy Chipman, Bruce Moore, Jan Chapman. The good earth.
BOOT CAMP: Rotarians were on hand to organize the Boots For Kids donation from Lamey Wellehan at the Amanda Rowe Elementary School in Portland. 125 brand new boots will be distributed to area school children in need, very timely with winter around the corner. Portland Rotary helped make it all happen with a donation, and there to help put it all together we have, L-R Front Amy Chipman, Art Howe, Asst Principal Melissa Richard, Social Worker Amy Leonard, and Patty Byers. In the back, Principal Bill Anton, Lamey Wellehan driver Chuck, Lamey Wellehan Manager Chris Stanley, and Dick Hall! Thank you Amy for your leadership on this growing annual program and leading our Community Service team!
HELP SERVE THANKSGIVING:Remember to sign up for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner community service at the Saint Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, on Cumberland Ave, on Wednesday, November 22. Nannette Ranger-Duncanson is organizing, and prep beginning at 8 AM, serving beginning at 10 AM, and a cleanup volunteer group afterward until 12 noon. This annual event is one we always cherish, so join in!
