Announcements:
Sandy Buck: President Gibadlo had announced last week that he received some good news from Sharon Buck. Sandy had successful surgery at the Lahey Clinic. Sandy will remain in the ICU for the next few days, and his surgeon was very happy with the results. Cards and well wishes can be sent to Sandy's home address of 5 Tobey St, Hampton.
New Member Inductions: Stephanie Santos and Jim McCue were welcomed as new members to Hampton Rotary - Welcome Stephanie and Jim!
RYLA Report: Karen Kulberg announced we had 12 students from the Interact Club going to Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) this summer including Paula Rappolt's daughter, Jim Waddell's granddaughter!
Soup Kitchen: Barry Salloway reported that another successful soup kitchen was delivered on Monday. Michaela Scott was the chef and made Chicken Tacos. Thanks to all who helped serve and cleanup. The last soup kitchen of the season will be May 8th. Shane Pine and the staff at the Community Oven will be making Pizza's.
Shopping Spree: Thanks to John Nyhan for putting together another very successful Shopping Spree on Saturday. $5000 was spent at Seabrook Market Basket buying groceries for 7 local food pantries. Thanks to Loco Sports for supporting the shopping spree again this year!
Club Changeover: June 25th is once again scheduled to be a lobster/hamburg cookout at Bud and Lois' in Hampton.
2017 District Conference: - May 19th at the Samoset Resort in Rockland Maine. Registration has begun and you can register online at http://rotary7780.org/SitePage/2017-district-conference. Full conference registration is $265, Hotel $164 plus tax/night. Hotel prices will increase on April 18th.
United Way Community Baby Shower Event; Cindy Boyd of the United Way and Portsmouth Rotary announced that the United Way is sponsoring a Community Baby Shower for mothers in need. This will be the 4th Baby Shower they have sponsored. There are 4 ways to help: 1. Sponsor (Portsmouth, Dover, and Rochester Rotary's are on board). 2. Drive for donations. 3. Clothes Shopping and Drops and 4. Volunteer on Saturday May 13th. For more information contact Cindy Boyd at cboyd@uwgs.org or call 603-373-9106.
Buddy Bench: Donna Abisi announced that Dave Reid and Craig Kelleher have built 6 Buddy Benches! we will need a small crew to cement once they are completed. We're placing 6 benches at 6 schools. Rollout in April. We'll be looking for people to attend the ribbon cutting.
Headstart Reading: Paula Rappolt brought a Thank You poster signed by all the kids at Headstart Reading. Only a couple reading opportunities left this school year.
