Stories
This week's guest will be Dr. Utibe Effiong, MD who was recently named one of the ten frontline innovators shaping global health by the Aspen Insitute. To hear clips from his recent interview with CBS Radio, click here: http://umehsplus.org/effiong_ebola/
Our annual Meeting in the Garden will take place on September 11.  A box lunch will be served and we guarantee that there will be no ants at our picnic. Unless you want a spam sandwich (cold with no tomato) I suggest that you respond to this message by ordering something edible.  Your choices are ham, turkey, roast beef or vegetarian (no mushrooms). An assortment of soft drinks will be available and the event is B.Y.O.C. (Bring Your Own Chair).

To order your lunch, please email tamra.ward1@gmail.com by 5:00 pm on Monday, September 8.
The Rotary Club of Ann Arbor is celebrating their centennial in 2016. They have committed to creating the Rotary Centennial Playground, a universal access playground in Gallup Park. One of their most important annual fundraising efforts is their 12th Annual Golf and Tennis Outing on Monday, September 8 at Barton Hills Country Club.  You may register for the event by visiting http://www.annarborrotary.org and we will also have registration forms at our meeting on September 4.

Individual golfers may register for $250 which includes one golf round, one lunch and one dinner pass. Round Robin tennis registration is $100 including lunch and dinner and individual dinner tickets are $75 per person.

Event chair Bob Buckler has offered an enticement to our club: if you register a foursome (or more) he will comp the fourth person in your group. If you don't have time for golf but you're available for dinner (free open bar, filet mignion and whitefish), he will comp every fourth attendee.  To take advantage of this generous offer, please email Bob at rjbuckler@me.com
You are cordially invited to attend a mixer with the District Governor Don Riddell at the Downtown Main Martini Bar, 201 W. Main Street, Brighton on Thursday, September 18 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Non-Rotarians are welcome!

To RSVP, please contact Rotarian Aleia Jackson of the Livingston Sunrise Club via email to:  http://ajackson@university-wealth.com

Connect with your fellow Rotarians, family and friends for a fun Rotary District 6380 Day at the Zoo.

RI President Gary Huang is encouraging all clubs to Light Up Rotary in 2014-15 by hosting Rotary Days. The concept of a Rotary Day is simple: hold a fun, informal event in your community for both Rotarians and the general public and use it as an opportunity to introduce non-Rotarians to Rotary and drive interest in membership and other opportunities for engagement. These events are also a great opportunity to get Rotary Alumni and New Generations program participants more involved in their local club. Rotarians can refer to the Rotary Days brochure for ideas on how to structure and promote their Rotary Day events.

In addition, sponsoring or participating in a Rotary Day event is one of the required activities that will help clubs qualify for the 2014-15 Presidential Citation.
