We are pleased to welcome PDG Jim Gilmore and current assistant to DG Don Riddell to our club on October 23.  Board members, this is a gentle reminder that our regular board meeting has been rescheduled from Tuesday, October 21 to 10:30 am on Thursday, October 23 in conjunction with our official visit.  All members are  encouraged to attend this important meeting on October 23 and welcome our friend, fellow Rotarian and honored guest.
The annual Pumpkin Patch visit with the kids from Green Baxter Court will take place this Saturday, October 25 at Three Cedars Farm in Salem Township. The fun starts at 1:00 pm and the afternoon includes a hay ride, trip through the corn maze, a visit to the Petting Zoo and will end with cider and donuts. Each of our friends from Green Baxter Court will go home with a pumpkin and a bag full of treats.

Are you free to volunteer? Please join us - here is the information on Three Cedars Farm: http://www.threecedarsfarm.org/ and the site is just about 20 minutes away from our meeting site. So that we can plan for your attendance, please email tamra.ward1@gmail.com at your earliest convenience.
This is a reminder that this is the final week for Pennies for Polio. If you have not contributed to this worthy cause, please remember that we are asking each member to contribute 60 cents (the approximate cost to vaccinate a child against polio) this coming Thursday, October 23. The entire district will be asking our members for contributions to support World Polio Day on October 24.

Hopefully, members of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor West are enjoying well-deserved rest and accolades after presenting a successful event on Saturday night at the Michigan Theater. The setting was beautiful, the food was delicious and the entertainment was wonderful. The audience enjoyed presentations by keynote speakers Ari Weinzweig, Co-Founder of Zingerman's and Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget Mary McCormack in addition to a moving video about the girls at the Grace Care Center in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka and a presentation about telemedicine for the elders at Mercy Home on the grounds of Grace presented by two U of M med students participating in the project. The event was well attended by our club so I would like to thank Keith Krings, Eric Tindall, Utibe Effiong, Steve Modell, Tamra Ward and guests for showing support for the new kids on the block.

Greetings Ann Arbor North Rotarians,

As I have announced over the last few meetings, our Rotary friends from the south are holding their annual 'fun night dinner' on November 8 at the Tri-County Sportsman's Club and this year's theme is Mardi Gras. What fun, right? Over the last few years the Milan Rotarians have supported our annual event by bringing a table full of fun folks and we should try to reciprocate. They are changing their venue to the Tri-County Sportsman's Club, which is known for their fabulous dinners.  There will be fun, music, auctions, games and a lot of fellowship but best of all (and just like us), all mooney raised will go towards Rotary projects both local and global.

Tickets are $40 per person and if you are joining the party, please contact Dutch Nie.  Checks should be made out to the Rotary Club of Milan.

The Club is also selling raffle tickets for a trip to New Orleans or a $1200 credit to be used for another destination trip if NO is not your style. They are only selling 50 and each ticket is $50 each, so supplies are limited.  Once they are gone, they are gone.

Dust off your "Carnival" costumes and lets celebrate an early Mardi Gras with our neighbors.

Dutch Nie,
PP 98 - 99
