Stories
We're proud to announce that our club is returning as a gold sponsor for the 2014 Michigan International Festival presented by the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor West. The proceeds from this wonderful event, will change lives for women and children locally and internationally. Since Ann Arbor West's mission is to "Have a drink and change the world", you know that you're going to have fun while doing good.

This year's festival will take place on Saturday, October 18th, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty Street in Ann Arbor.  Keynote speakers for 2014 are Supreme Court Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Zingerman's Co-Founder Ari Weinzweig.

The Food Bazaar will include dishes from China, India, Italy, Latin America and other international foods. Our silent auction features unique items from across the world that have been donated by the community to change the world. In 2013, over 700 people attended, this is one of the largest international festivals in Michigan.

Tickets:  $15 per person, $30 at the door; Family Pack 4 for $50, $100 at the door.  VIP tickets including priority seating and an afterglow reception are available for $65 per person or Family Pack 4 for $200

Tickets are available for purchase from any Ann Arbor West Rotarian or online at http://webticket.com and by visiting Bombay Bazaar, Patel Brothers, Saline Recreation Center, Maureen's Designs, New Era Chiropractic, Hartmann Insurance, Brewed Awakenings or other locations on the event website http://mifestival.org

We are pleased to welcome PDG Jim Gilmore and current assistant to DG Don Riddell to our club on October 23.  Board members, this is a gentle reminder that our regular board meeting has been rescheduled from Tuesday, October 21 to 10:15 am on Thursday, October 23 in conjunction with our official visit.  All members are  encouraged to attend this important meeting on October 23 and welcome our friend, fellow Rotarian and honored guest.
Greetings Ann Arbor North Rotarians,

As I have announced over the last few meetings, our Rotary friends from the south are holding their annual 'fun night dinner' on November 8 at the Tri-County Sportsman's Club and this year's theme is Mardi Gras. What fun, right? Over the last few years the Milan Rotarians have supported our annual event by bringing a table full of fun folks and we should try to reciprocate. They are changing their venue to the Tri-County Sportsman's Club, which is known for their fabulous dinners.  There will be fun, music, auctions, games and a lot of fellowship but best of all (and just like us), all mooney raised will go towards Rotary projects both local and global.

Tickets are $40 per person and if you are joining the party, please contact Dutch Nie.  Checks should be made out to the Rotary Club of Milan.

The Club is also selling raffle tickets for a trip to New Orleans or a $1200 credit to be used for another destination trip if NO is not your style. They are only selling 50 and each ticket is $50 each, so supplies are limited.  Once they are gone, they are gone.

Dust off your "Carnival" costumes and lets celebrate an early Mardi Gras with our neighbors.

Dutch Nie,

"There are many wonderful things that will never be done if you don't do them" ~ Charles D. Gill
Keeping in mind that a polio immunization can cost as little as .60 per child, Foundation chair Gail Scott presented "Pennies for Polio", a simple way to fund our campaign to End Polio Now.  Here's how it works:

1. Clean out your car and set aside the change
2. Clean out your purse and set aside the change.
3. Empty your pockets
4. Check the dryer
5. Find a penny and pick it up
6. Check the couch

At the end of the week, round up all of your loose pennies and dimes and quarters and then Gail will pass the bucket each week and proceeds collected will be donated to Polio Plus on October 24. Donating your spare change makes perfect sense!
We would like to thank Gail Scott for warmly welcoming our members and visiting guests. This week, we had the pleasure of introducing visitors The Hon. John Hammond, Rotarian from the Lakeshore club; Rotarian John MauBob Overhiser, Ann Arbor West; John Rasmussen from the Ann Arbor Club and last but not least, our special guest and speaker, Dr. Chuck Madenjian. We hope that you enjoyed your visit!
