New to this year's Lost in Space FUNdraiser on March 28th, a Pick Your Prize raffle will replace the Silent Auction. In this fundraiser we will have a table of donated items and it will look quite similar to a Silent Auction table. The difference? Instead of bidding on a specific item, guests can purchase Pick Your Prize tickets and participate in a number of smaller raffles with a chance of winning prizes.

How it works: If we have 50 prizes on our table, there will be a small box or bag next to each item and a raffle is held for 50 items. Guests have the option of increasing their chances of winning by putting several tickets in the raffle of their choice or they can enter into all 50 raffles. Pick Your Prize raffles generate about 33% more revenue than the traditional Silent Auction and are less labor-intensive. Volunteers are freed from the sometimes stressful task of closing the auction table and we all avoid the end-of-evening close, waiting for bidders to come forward to pay for their items or tracking the winners down after the event.

At a pre-determined time in the evening program, raffle tickets will be drawn for each prize and winners will be posted so that the lucky winners can collect their gifts. Tickets for the Pick Your Prize raffle will only be sold at the FUNdraiser and winners must be present to win.

How you can help: We are asking you to solicit items from your friends, family, vendors and businesses you patronize. Raffle request letters are available by emailing tamra.ward1@gmail.com and also at our weekly meetings. We are also looking for volunteers to set up the table and help collect donations.
Rotary District 6380 is now accepting applications for the Short Term Rotary Youth Exchange Program for the Summer of 2015.

Rotary’s Short-Term Exchange Program presents opportunities for students to advance their knowledge and world understanding by allowing them to visit a different country for a limited period of time. Participating students live with a matched host family in their selected country from 3-4 weeks in the summer under the sponsorship of a local Rotary Club.

The objective of the Short-Term Exchange Program is to foster world peace, international understanding and good will by extending international communication at the personal level through the exchange of students of high school age. It is our hope that these students will be able to see firsthand the problems and accomplishments of other peoples of different colors, creeds, and cultures.

The Rotary District 6380 Short-Term Family-to Family Exchange arranges for the student’s family to host a matching Rotary applicant (between the ages of 15 and 18 1/2 years) usually during the summer. Travel to the host country is arranged by each student’s family communicating with the other student’s family, determining dates, times and airlines to be booked for the exchange. Frequently, students who exchange first accompany their host sibling on the return flight home.

Qualifications for Short Term Exchange Students
Any student, age 15 to18-1/2, of good character who possesses a warm personality and a desire to live abroad and host in return is eligible for Rotary’s Short-Term Exchange. Candidates should be adaptable and flexible, well mannered and want to experience life in other countries and cultures. Children of both Rotarians and non-Rotarians are eligible.

If you have any students that may be interested or would like additional information please contact me at KimberlyD6380YE@gmail.com or feel free to call me at (815) 281-0525.
STARDATE 28 MARCH 2015: You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You are about to boldly go where no Rotarian has gone before - to Space, the final frontier.

Yeah, I mixed up about five different television shows there but the end result is the same: you are invited to embrace your inner nerd, climb into your space cadet uniform and get LOST IN SPACE at our annual FUNdraiser on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

PLEASE mark your calendars, save the date and invite your friends and family to join us for this year's wild and crazy night of fun and fellowship.

We're pleased to announce that the First Annual Phil Zepeda Invitational will take place on Saturday, May 30, 9:00 am at the Washtenaw Course at the Polo Fields in Ypsilanti. That's only 109 days away! Thanks to Chairs Matt Copeland and Keith Krings for chairing this event which promises to be a day full of fun, fellowship and an exciting new fundraiser for our club.
