How does this look for February? Enjoy the fabulous sun in the Dominican Republic if you join the trip the Joyces are organizing to check on the BioSand clean water filters project. We will stay with Rotarian families in Bonao for four nights then we will check into an all-inclusive resort (Riu Merengue - Five Stars- pictured) in Puerto Plata for six nights.
 
Dates:  Friday, February 6, 2015 - leave from Detroit, connect in Newark, NJ for Puerto Plata.   Monday, February 16, 2015 - return to Detroit via Newark NJ airport.
 
Total package is 10 nights and includes air fare from Detroit: One person $1,809 plus $99.99 insurance; two persons sharing a room at the resort - $1,529 plus $99.99 insurance per person.
 
Costs not included in package:  taxi transportation to/from Bonao, some meals in Bonao, your personal expenses such as souvenirs, etc.

Rotary District 6380 and the Rotary Clubs of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti invite you to Light Up Rotary at a special dinner with Rotary International President Gary C.K. Huang on Friday, December 19 at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center. The evening will begin with no-host cocktails and hors d'oevures at 6:00 pm followed by dinner with wine service and a champagne toast. The highlight of the evening will be a keynote address from President Huang.

We're pleased to announce that the First Annual Phil Zepeda Invitational will take place on Saturday, May 30, 9:00 am at the Washtenaw Course at the Polo Fields in Ypsilanti. That's only 214 days away! Thanks to Chairs Matt Copeland and Keith Krings for chairing this event which promises to be a day full of fun, fellowship and an exciting new fundraiser for our club.

It's the time of year to begin the process of selecting our next District Governor Nominee (Governor 2017-18), to follow DGE Henry Dotson, 2015-16  
and DGN Michael Angelo Caruso, 2016-17. 
 
Qualifications include being a regular member of a club in the District and have a classification whose integrity is without question.  Candidates must have served as a Club President for a full term, and demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties of the office of Governor as provided in the RI By Laws.  Candidates must also demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties and responsibilities of Governor. 
These are more fully contained on pages 19 to 22 of the current 2013 Manual of Procedure, which you can easily download and read by Google: Rotary Manual of Procedure 2013. 
 
Nominations will be accepted by me until December 31, 2014.  Candidates nominated will be interviewed by the District Nominating Committee, and a candidate named as our District Governor Nominee Designate, to be confirmed at the District Conference.  Attached is the nomination form to be completed by the candidate and candidate's club.
