Rotary District 6380 is now accepting applications for the Short Term Rotary Youth Exchange Program for the Summer of 2015.
Rotary’s Short-Term Exchange Programpresents opportunities for students to advance their knowledge and world understanding by allowing them to visit a different country for a limited period of time. Participating students live with a matched host family in their selected country from 3-4 weeks in the summer under the sponsorship of a local Rotary Club.
The objective of the Short-Term Exchange Program is to foster world peace, international understanding and good will by extending international communication at the personal level through the exchange of students of high school age. It is our hope that these students will be able to see firsthand the problems and accomplishments of other peoples of different colors, creeds, and cultures.
The Rotary District 6380 Short-Term Family-to Family Exchange arranges for the student’s family to host a matching Rotary applicant (between the ages of 15 and 18 1/2 years) usually during the summer. Travel tothe host country is arranged by each student’s family communicating with the other student’s family, determining dates, times and airlines to be booked for the exchange. Frequently, students whoexchange first accompany their host sibling on the return flight home.
Qualifications for Short Term Exchange Students
Any student, age 15 to18-1/2, of good character who possesses a warm personality and a desire to live abroad and host in return is eligible for Rotary’s Short-Term Exchange. Candidates should be adaptable and flexible, well mannered and want to experience life in other countries and cultures. Children of both Rotarians and non-Rotarians are eligible.
If you have any students that may be interested or would like additional information please contact me at KimberlyD6380YE@gmail.com or feel free to call me at (815) 281-0525.
Great news, due to last years last years successful Rotary Day at the Zoo fundraiser and social event we are going to do it again.
We are trying to coordinate the best date and want to choose one that conflicts with the least other events going on in the district. We have the dates narrowed down to Sept. 19, 20, 26, or 27. Please check your club's calendars and let me know if you have anything planned for any of those dates. We will then pick the best date and let everyone know ASAP. This way it will be put on everyone's calendars and we will ensure great district wide turnout.
If anyone wants to be involved in the planning this year, volunteers are always welcome. Let me know if anyone is interested.
STARDATE 28 MARCH 2015: You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You are about to boldly go where no Rotarian has gone before - to Space, the final frontier.
Yeah, I mixed up about five different television shows there but the end result is the same: you are invited to embrace your inner nerd, climb into your space cadet uniform and get LOST IN SPACE at our annual FUNdraiser on Saturday, March 28, 2015.
PLEASE mark your calendars, save the date and invite your friends and family to join us for this year's wild and crazy night of fun and fellowship.
We're pleased to announce that the First Annual Phil Zepeda Invitational will take place on Saturday, May 30, 9:00 am at the Washtenaw Course at the Polo Fields in Ypsilanti. That's only 109 days away! Thanks to Chairs Matt Copeland and Keith Krings for chairing this event which promises to be a day full of fun, fellowship and an exciting new fundraiser for our club.
