The Power of Thought:Critical Thinking as a Pathway to Peace
On January 22nd Sue Reynolds Talked About Dementia.
At today's meeting  Sue Reynolds, from Catholic Charities, shared basic information about the causes of dementia and strategies for working with those we care for.  It was a very interesting and informative session. Sue also shared the other services provided by the Catholic Charities organization.  District Assistant Governor Mike McManus also joined us with a couple of announcements and fellowship. It was a wonderful meeting today.

Scott Talked About Plant Based Diet at Meeting Today.
Thomas Okubo joined us for our meeting to provide an update on the Peru Neonatology Equipment Global Grant being led by the Yale Roteract Club.  Rotary Club of Ann Arbor North is a supporting club on this project.  Club member Manish Mehta has offered his expertise in global grant projects and has helped to secure a $5,000 D6380 Foundation Grant to support the project.

Scott Nelson also shared on his Rotary Action Group.

RCAAN Christmas Party on December 11th.
December 11,  2025 RCAAN had their annual holiday party. 14 Rotarians and family members came together to kick off the season. We were so busy enjoying each other's company that no pictures were taken of the actual event. Instead of our typical holiday white elephant exchange, we decided to collect food for Food Gatherers.  In this time when so many people are facing insecurity, rotarians step up. Fourteen Rotarians filled the back of my car with much needed supplies.

Anne Nauts, Rotary Peace.
Anne Nauts was our speaker on November 13th and talked about Rotary Peace initiatives. As a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of our mission. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect.

Anne described the peace groups in Rotary, and some events that are being planned:
  • Rotary Action Group for Peace
  • Rotary Action Group for Peace- Great Lakes Chapter
  • Rotary District 6380 Peace Committee

Ann Arbor Rotary Clubs Joined Forces to “Send Hunger Packing”
On November 8, 2025 the three Ann Arbor Rotary Clubs—Ann Arbor North, Rotary Club of Ann Arbor, and Ann Arbor West—joined forces once again with Kids Coalition Against Hunger to  host their fourth annual Send Hunger Packing event.

More than 200 volunteers from across the community, including students from Skyline, Saline, and Huron High School Interact Clubs and the University of Michigan Rotaract Club, along with members of Rotary clubs from District 6380 packed around 60,000 nutritious meals in just a few hours—meals that will support families facing food insecurity locally, nationally, and globally.

• Locally, food packs will be distributed through Food Gatherers and Packard Health in Ann Arbor

• Nationally and internationally, meals are being shipped to disaster relief zones,

including recent shipments to Jamaica following hurricane devastation. The Send Hunger Packing initiative raised over $20,000 (exceeding our goal of $17,500!) for this year’s event. This project is about neighbors helping neighbors—students, families, and community members coming together to make a difference.
