Dr. Joseph Myers is a Windsor\, \;Ontari o native and \;Canadian&nbs p\;resident \;who crosses an international border daily fo r his work and research \;p ursuits \;in Ann Arbor\, MI \, USA. \;He has been practicing Optometry at the Universi ty of Michigan for 30 years.He graduated with \;MCO \;from \;Ferris S tate University College of Optometry in 1988. \;He is presently part of the University'\;s "\;Third Century Initiative\,&quo t\; researching and providing \;advanced \;health care to underserved populations around the world. In this capacity\, \;he \;serves as the Principal \;Investigator for the Common Health Plus\,&nbs p\;Container-to-Clinic pilot \;project. Dr. Myers was a co-founder (with Dr. Richard Cross) of t he Eye Health Institute which has served the eye care needs of the residen ts in Hanover Parish\, Jamaica. He is married to Lilly Perdomo and has 3 children.

< span style="line-height: 21.6px\;">This is a presentation about a new $80k Global Grant Project proposed for Jamaica.

\n\n

Common Health Plus has developed a platform that we call an A.R .C. (Architecturally Repurposed Container). \;The focus is on developing and integrating advanced tec hnologies that are readily manufactured\, robust\, and distributed\, inord er to support the needs of clinics and clinical researchers. \; CommonHealth+ at Sandy Bay Jamaica is the first in a series of prototypical\,modified container heal th clinics that aim to deliver telemedicine-based services supporting heal thcare and chronic care health monitoring in remote and underserved popula tions globally. \;~~It is a response to the inequality of he althcare around the globe. In believing that high quality healthcare is no t a privilege but a fundamental human right. \;~~CommonHealth+ \;have \;leve raged multiple departments and \;committed the research engine of The University of Michigan to the d evelopment of low-cost\, \;advanced \;technologies deployed in a sustainable healthcare delivery mechanism \;that is scalable to address ing the needs of populations in remote areas of the world (eye\, dental\, maternal care\, etc).
