Four Way Speech Contest
We are thrilled to announce that Shannon Seidel, a senior at Nazareth Area High School is this year's District Winner of the Contest!

Shannon won our local level and a check for $100 before going onto the Regional level and after winning that contest and $250, she was awarded 1st place at the District 7430 Conference on May 2nd.  Shannon wins a check for $1,000.

Shannon's speech featured the PA State Adoption Code and the importance of updating the revocation period to be more consistent with that in 40 other states in the US.  Her poise and delivery were top notch.

She will be heading off to University of Pittsburgh this fall and plans to study political science and move onto enroll in law school.

Also of note is the fact that our local contest featured 4 talented young women from NAHS in grades 9, 10 and 12.  The District finalists were also 4 young women in grades 10 and 12.  Those who were not winners this year are permitted to compete again during their high school career.

District day of service - planting on May 1st
Thank you to all who came out on a lovely Saturday afternoon for a little over an hour of digging, planting and socializing at our downtown circle.  Red, white and blue where the colors of the day.  Workers even sported a new version of the service derby hat - if you want a sporty new Rotary cap, come and help on May 15th at Nazareth Borough Park from 9 to noon for more outdoor service and freshening up our parks!

Please message me or Linda Crook if you plan to volunteer.  We really hope to have at least 15 workers!  Some Masons and Lions are joining us...

Holly Bennett
Holly will step up to President Elect on July 1st.  She has already helped current President Elect, Kathy get ready for next year by helping to write and submit a District grant for a special education-focused project.  She brought her 3 children with her to help plant at our recent service afternoon.  Mayor Lance is also featured in this photo.
Thank you to Holly for jumping into Rotary and serving our community professionally and as a volunteer!
