Toastmasters International

It was announced last year at the Rotary International Convention that Rotary and Toastmasters were forming an alliance for their mutual benefit. For Rotary it is an opportunity for members to hone their leadership skills by improving their public speaking. To that end, Hannah Merschen of the Jolly Road Toastmasters club in Blue Bell, explained how that can be accomplished.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, the organization's membership exceeds 364,000 in more than 16,200 clubs in 145 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.
The Jolly Road Blue Bell club meets, virtually, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 12-1 PM when they practice and hone their "public speaking skills".  For example, every meeting has a "word of the week".  Members are encouraged to use it spontaneously in a sentence during the meeting.

Membership dues are $45 for 6 months.  That's a bargain!  If you'd like more information please contact Hannah at: 856-938-9555 or hmerschen@accessservices.org.
