Jacqui Burleigh Talks About Hospice

Jacqui Burleigh of Compassus addressed the Harleysville Rotarians on the delicate subject of hospice and palliative care. Jacqui has spent 9 years in gerontology and 15 years in hospice. She explained how difficult it is for people to discuss this topic and the importance of having an advance directive as part of your will to assist others in making decisions on your behalf. Questions such as, "Who do you want present at the time of your death?", need to be in writing to be effective. The flexibility of hospice care was presented along with the role of Medicare in providing financial services. Jacqui also talked about palliative care for chronic disease pain and what you can do to direct that possibility. Very informative and practical information that we all need.
