Carol Bauer Introduces Garden of Health
Carol Bauer introduced her new non-profit volunteer organization that she calls the Garden of Health. The mission is to create a food bank for fresh vegetables grown locally for those who are food insecure. Recipients must supply some of the labor to be eligible to receive the produce. Currently there are 23 combined beds under cultivation at Zion Mennonite Church and Trinity UCC - both in Souderton. Produce is distributed through Generations, Montgomery County Senior Center, Grundy Manor, and Valley Manor. The organization's largest need is a new vehicle to transport the vegetables to the distribution points. Harleysville Rotary is reviewing her request for the vehicle and for additional labor.
