Orgelkids {working pipe organ)

Since 1997 Vincent M. Ryan has been Minister of Music at Advent Lutheran Church in Harleysville, PA, where he directs the church’s varied ensembles. He has vast experience accompanying solo instrumentalists, voice, mixed ensembles, and choirs of all levels, including the Gospel Choir of Wittenberg, Germany. In 2016, he participated in the premier Orgelfestwoche (organ festival week) in Wittenberg, and has returned annually. In 2019, he sang with the Adam Rener Schola Cantorum in Strasbourg, France. He is the organist for the Lancaster-Franconia Choral Singers directed by Ralph Alderfer, and the Souderton Alumni Men's Chorus directed by Jon Leight. Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano and Master of Arts degree in organ from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). His teachers included James Staples (piano), Carol Teti (organ), James Dearing and James Jordan (choral conducting). In 1995, he was the recipient of the Twila A. Hoover Organ Scholarship. He has returned many times to IUP as a guest organist and pianist. About Orgelkids: The pipe-organ is a beautiful instrument with a lot of things to discover. Of course there is organ music in all kinds of styles. But the technique with which the sound is made is also very interesting. And let’s not forget the history of the organ as part of cultural heritage. Orgelkids is a real instrument: a pipe organ that you build and play. It's interactive and hands-on. Participants will enjoy teambuilding, history, archeology, science, organizational skills, tactile, and music. |

Camp Niedig
Mar. 15, 2023
Philip Janke Harleysville Rotary Youth Services Chairperson Phil is a Charter Member of the Harleysville Rotary Club. In addition to serving as Club President, as well as on various other committees, he has served on the Youth Services Committee for many years. Together with Kyle Zehr, both are Co-Chairs for Camp Neidig.
Charlie Incalcatera Co-Chairperson, Rotary Camp Neidig Committee Charlie is a general dentist from Bethlehem. He lives in South Whitehall and has three adult sons, one grandson (turns 1 on 3/16), and two step-daughters with four step-grandchildren. He has been a Rotarian since 1985, first with the Bethlehem Rotary Club and then he was the Inaugural President of the Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary (1989). He's been on the Camp Neidig Committee since 1986 and the Committee's Co-Chair with Wendy Body from the Allentown Rotary Club. As for Camp History, we are really the very first Rotary Youth Leadership Award program in the world, though we have never promoted it nor been recognized by RI as such. The first camp was held in 1950 in Green Lane, PA when we were District 245. In the early 1960s when 245 was split into what is now 7430 (and 7450, Philadelphia area) we named the camp after Joseph Neidig. He was the District Governor in 1950 who started the camp, and was the Superintendent of Schools in Quakertown. At first it was an all male camp, primarily focused on sports. As the years progressed, we started adding leadership training. In the later part of the 1980s, when women were admitted into Rotary, we became a co-ed camp. We generally have over 110 students each year, although last year we ended up with around 89 due to coming out of the pandemic. We are more interested in quality students who will get the most out of this opportunity, rather than quantity. Around 100 students is ideal, but we can accommodate more than that. |
