Bring a Friend - RSVP Now!!
Hi Everyone,

Don't forget to RSVP to me by Wednesday!  I have only heard from a few people on "YES"!  We need more to make the event worth it! 1760 is expecting north of 25 people!

We are excited to announce our next "get together event."  It is a joint event between the Fellowship Committee and Membership Committee.

We are hosting a happy hour on Tuesday, February 19th from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the 1760 Pub -N - Grille.  The address is 1176 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown 18087.

All appetizers and soft drinks will be covered.  It will be a cash bar.

Since this is a joint event, we ask that you bring a prospective member with you.  We also ask that you please email me if you plan to attend and how many guests you are bringing by Wednesday February 13th.

The goal is to have fun and spread the word about Emmaus Rotary to help grow our membership!

Cheers,
Bryce
Growing our Rotary Family
Haddonfield, NJ - July 4, 2018: At a fourth of July parade, the local Rotary club carry flags of the world and a banner reading 'Doing good. Having fun doing it.'
Rotary clubs from all over doing what we do all the time---HAVING FUN IN A PARADE IN NEW JERSEY

Each one of us comes into Rotary with a different idea, passion or a gift they know they can share.   What was the motivation behind your reason to join the largest service organization in the world?  Somewhere in your heart you wanted to help someone in need, help during a crisis, help another person be they best they can be, whatever the motivation we all have the commonality that we want to help others.
Tuesday, February 19th the social committee along with the membership committee are having a Happy Hour get together at the 1760 house.  5:30 to 8:00 pm bring a a like minded friend, neighbor, or colleague who may or may not think about joining our organization, but you know them and they want to give back.  Lots of people want to give back but do not know the medium that can help them find the way.  We are looking for a large attendance, hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks are on our club.  The bar is a cash bar.  We are trying to keep the Rotary momentum going in a positive direction.  Please RSVP to Bryce so he has a head count.   Let's have fun together and enjoy each others' company.

See you Tuesday evening at the 1760 House route 100 and Hamilton streets.

Thank You to everyone for all of your help in making this rotary year as successful as it has been.

Yours in service,
Rick Zayaitz

Our club has the honor of hosting the Rotary District 7430 conference this year because Cindy Hornaman, one of our past presidents, is the current District Governor.  We are encouraging all of the Emmaus Rotarians to support her by attending our district conference.
Many of us have volunteered to help out in many ways—but we need more participation and more registrations! Additionally, based on the number of attendees from our club who participate - we will get some funding back to support hunger projects in our area—which you know is an Emmaus Rotary focus.

Our Board of Directors last month, voted to offer a $34 price reduction for the Emmaus Rotarians who register for the conference starting now for up to $750—please register and take advantage of the price (monies will be returned to those eligible following or near to the conference) before February 22nd. As a Rotarian, you will have to pay the whole amount up front and then Chris Wills will write you a check for the $34 as a reimbursement.  Please keep your receipt to send to Chris.  You can register for the whole conference, Saturday all day only, or the District Training Assembly on Saturday from noon-4:30. Concert tickets are included in the full registration and Saturday all day.

This conference is going to prove to be one of the best yet- -with international speakers, lots of great networking as well as fun—and even a concert in the evening at Symphony Hall.

You don’t want to miss out.  REGISTER HERE CLICK HERE

If you have any questions please give Sue Straeter, Eric Loch, or Don Blose a call for information.
Yours in Rotary,
Rick Zayaitz

Breakfast at the Emmaus Theater....
Several Rotarians noted how unusual it felt to be at the movies early in the morning when Emmaus Rotary met off-site on Thursday, February 7, 2019. After enjoying egg sandwiches, juice and coffee catered by David's Italian Market on Chestnut Street, President Rick Zayaitz held a brief meeting with a few announcements: the 4-Way  Test speech contest scheduled for later in the day at Emmaus High School is postponed because Tony Moyer has the flu. Bill Erdman introduced the film and its director, Vincent Mondillo.

The documentary "Fix-It" was inspired by the founder and CEO of MCS Industries (a $250,000,000 producer of mirrors and frames here in the Lehigh Valley) Richard Master's quest to cut costs. He found the elephant in the room was the high cost of health insurance for his employees. The film outlined our current system which leaves a majority of individuals and families worried about their coverage, which can bankrupt a small business if there are one or two extraordinary claims and which causes Americans to defer wellness care. Advertising, marketing, and lobbying Congress drive the cost of health insurance up.
After stating that "we can't afford the current system", the film endorsed a single payer system and looked at how that works in Canada. This documentary is available for home viewing. Vince Mondillo fielded a lively set of questions.

Collection for Turning Point in January and February

      Fellow Rotarians,
Community Service decided at a previous meeting to do a collection drive in the month of January and February in support of Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley where victims of abuse and their children find refuge.  We are going to be collecting new twin blankets and comforters to support their great cause.  We will collect through the end of February and deliver in the beginning of March.  If you have any further questions, please speak to Nicole Steirer.  Thank you again for your continued support. It is truly inspiring when we support great organizations with our donations.
