GREG CAPONA, Executive Director WDIY gave a very interesting presentation on the HISTORY OF RADIO AND PUBLIC BROADCASTING. WDIY started out as W Do It Yourself. Visit WDIY.org for a look at this organization. In addition to 6 full-time staff, the programming is truly a community endeavor with some 125 volunteers. These folks determine the programming and are "on the Mike" during their broadcasts. 

Greg provided some interesting perspectives on news media. He learned a long time ago to always seek out the other side in any controversy or arguments to ensure you have a balanced position before reaching your conclusions. The station tries to maintain a balance on interactions and the expressions of opinions. Refreshing as well is their preference to receive critical comments on the station and programs. This is the true path to continuous improvements. 

It was interesting to hear their "jazz programs" are globally popular, all around the world. Check out the website and you may find some very interesting programs and reporting.
