At our September 12, 2024 club meeting, Diane Elliott, Founder and Executive Director from Catalyst4 spoke to our members about the work of her organization.
"Serving Northampton and Lehigh Counties in Pennsylvania, Catalyst4 provides training in construction and other trades – helping to meet the demand for skilled workers, decrease unemployment, create affordable housing, and eliminate blight.
Catalyst4 began in 2019 with the belief that by providing an opportunity for employment, with a livable wage, a sustainable future for individuals and families could be assured.
By providing training in construction and other trades, we can help meet the demand for skilled workers, while decreasing unemployment, particularly for those whose past has made securing employment difficult. At the same time, we see the chance to increase the availability of affordable housing, eliminate blight, and develop a sense of community pride."
The annual Janet A, Sipple Lectureship is being held this year on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm in Foy Concert Hall at Moravian University. This year the lectureship is entitled "Leading at Every Level: Authentic Leadership to Create Outcomes."
Morning Star Rotary will once again support this event. Tickets will be provided to anyone who wishes to attend. Dr. Sipple had been an active and revered member of our club for many years. Please feel free to show your support.
Join us for the Rotary District 7430 "Race to Zero - Let's End Polio." This is a family-friendly event! We have a chip-timed 5k Run, a 5k Walk, and a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. The race begins at Simmons Elementary School in Horsham and runs along the Horsham Powerline Trail. The race will take place rain or shine. We also offer a virtual option (no race shirt) to complete a distance of your choice and help support this cause.
