Obituary - Cantelmi Long Funeral Home

Ronald C. Searfoss, 76, of Wescosville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. He was the treasured husband of Jean (Gavin) Searfoss with whom he shared over 41 amazing years of loving marriage. Born in Coaldale on July 25, 1947, he was an adored son of the late George R. Searfoss, and June K. (Weaver) Searfoss.  Above all he cherished his time spent with his family and being a phenomenal pappy.  He was a beloved youth sports coach and served as a Mason with both his father and his son Brandon, a part of the Porsche Club of America’s Riesentöter region, and a Green Bay Packers owner.  Ron was renowned for the infectious joy he elicited as Santa Claus.  Ron worked as a CPA, corporate controller, entrepreneur, non-profit financial manager, and college professor. He honorably served his country in the US National Guard.  He endlessly served his community as a Rotarian, including as Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary club’s past president and chair of the Salute the Troops concert.  Forever a most loving husband (Honey Bunch), Dad, Pop, and Pappy, Ron deeply enriched the lives of his wife Jean; daughter Heather Haas and her husband Jared; sons, Brandon Searfoss and his wife Milly Dignetti, and Cameron Searfoss and his fiancée Victoria Zienkiewicz; grandchildren, Hannah, Gabrielle, Lucas, and Barrett. Also survived by great grandchildren, Antonio, Filomena, and Giovanni; brother, Gregory Searfoss and his wife Sharon. He is now reunited with his house bear Koa.

RAY HOLTON CLASSIFICATION TALK
At our Thursday, September 28th Live/Hybrid Meeting, our own MSR Ray Holton presented a classification talk sharing with club members his personal, professional, and Rotary life story.  Ray explained his start in journalism and his rise through the newspaper industry culminating with being editor of the Allentown Morning Call.  The shared stories of his extensive sailing adventures with Donna after their retirements were captivating and enjoyable.  Ray has been become an integral member of MSR since joining us through our merger with Saucon Valley Rotary.

Dear BMS Rotarians:

Our Club put on an excellent 5K experience for the participants in the midst of a cancelled parade and the outer bands of tropical storm Ophelia.

We hosted the 72 valiant runners that showed up out of the 127 registered.

Thanks to all our volunteers.

To paraphrase George Orwell: "All volunteers are equal, but some volunteers are more equal than others."

All did their part, however Mike Long's course management and Jeff Kicska's on-line registration and electronic scoring were instrumental in race success.

President Betty has some leftover race t-shirts for those who would like one.

At a future meeting, we will debrief on the race and the financial results

Thank you all for another great 5K event.

Tom Kolepp, Race Director

And a very special THANK YOU! to Race Director, Tom Kolepp who managed many, many challenges throughout the process - changing venues, coordinating various groups, and having the last minute impact of running a race on an alternative course in a tropical storm!  Well done Sir.... and thanks to all for their support!
