Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering Volunteer Night

(excerpt from September Board Minutes). The format has changed from last year in that it will be held at a single site location. Instead of just cooking the meal and cleaning up as has been done in the past: volunteers are also asked to open, greet and register guests; visit/provide hospitality for shelter guests; provide a minimum of 2 volunteers to serve as overnight chaperones; and prepare and serve a simple breakfast. A discussion was held as to whether MSR wanted to and could provide these additional services. Deacon Rodney Conn, who spearheaded the Emergency Sheltering at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity, and his wife have stated their intentions to join the Club and can help support this project. MSR was asked to take the 4^th Thursday of all 4 months (December 2017 – March 2018). There was a concern about having enough MSR volunteers for the added responsibilities. A recommendation was made that the Club would try it for one night in January before committing to the other dates.
