MSR REACH OUT
Think about your fellow MSR members. Any you have not seen in a while...

Please take a little time to "reach out" and touch base with someone. See how they are doing and let them know they are missed at meetings and our events.

Perfect time is now - First Thursday this week!
ROTARY MEANS BUSINESS FIRST THURSDAY
Our First Thursday will be at  the Artisan Wine & Cheese March 5 5:30 - 7:00 pm. This fellowship opportunity continues to attract more Rotarians and friends including colleagues from the Saucon/Center Valley club. Plan now to join us on March 5 for a relaxing and informative time of Rotary fellowship.

The Wine & Cheese coupled with the assortment of hors d oeuvres is very appealing and tastes great!

See you there!
DR. SIPPLE COVID-19 CHALLENGE
Dr. Janet Sipple, RN has challenged the MSR members to prepare for a possible local Coronavirus (COVID-19) eruption

For every member who completes home preparation based on self-report within the next 2 weeks, she will donate $5 to the club.

Home preparation includes the following:

1. Take the flu and pneumonia vaccines if you haven’t already.
2.  Stock in at least two weeks supply of food & water on reserve.
3.  Have on hand one month supply of critical prescription medications.
4.  Purchase of support over the counter (OTC) medications, i.e. cough therapy, fever/pain relief, lozenges, nasal decongestant, hand-sanitizer,  Lysol spray, etc.
5.  Temporary employer permission to work at home.
6.  Family plans, for example day care centers and schools may be closed, requiring families to pull together to care for family members.

Self reports will be recorded on March 12th at the regular meeting.

Come on folks...this has to be the easiest club fundraiser ever and everyone benefits.

Thanks, Doc!!!
Feb 27 Kelsey Oesmann The Game of Rent
Kelsey, via Zoom video conference, gave Morning Star an excellent explanation and demonstration of The Game of Rent which to create greater awareness of the "affordable housing" challenges facing many people in the Lehigh Valley areas.

Using The Game of Rent that Kelsey designed as a customized tool based on real Lehigh Valley details around housing costs, average wages based on occupations, commuting distances, etc.  Players are each dealt a “life situation” including occupation, salary, single/married/#kids, medical situations and then the search for an affordable apartment begins.  Drawing cards present options, some that may be affordable and many that may not.  It’s meant to demonstrate the factors involved and how difficult it can be in a particular area (Lehigh Valley in this case) to afford a place to live and still have enough to get to work, feed the family, etc.

John Oesmann will have a “hard copy” of the game at our meeting. There are plans underway to have an after hours event to participate in the game and further expand our awareness of the critical nature of  the "affordable housing" challenges facing our communities.

You can get a little background here at https://www.kelseyoesmann.com/the-game-of-rent

A special thank you to Kelsey for the informative presentation and congratulations on the design and creation
