President’s Message: Creating our New Morning Star Rotary Greetings to all Morning Star Rotarians: On behalf of the Morning Star Rotary Board, I would like to send best wishes. We wish you and your loved ones health and peace in your hearts, minds and bodies during these challenging times. While it is clear Rotary, and specifically our Morning Star Rotary, cannot meet as we have throughout our history, we will not stop being a functioning group of dedicated Rotarians. We will seek to engage our membership, develop new ways of benefiting our community and serve Rotary International while providing an opportunity for digital fellowship in the weeks and months ahead. For that purpose, the Board of Morning Star Rotary met digitally on Sunday afternoon to discuss the immediate future of our club as the active and involved organization we have grown to become. Our plan is to meet on “Zoom”, a computer application meeting platform. This will enable our membership to participate in regular club meetings on a weekly basis. Our first meeting on Zoom will be held this Thursday March 26th at 7:30 a.m. to provide a tutorial and familiarize our members with this platform. On subsequent Thursdays, we will meet on Zoom and endeavor to present a speaker, share “Happy Dollars,” communicate Rotary information, as well as inspire and support each other as Rotarians and friends. We will follow the first Thursday “Happy Hour” schedule by meeting on Thursday April 2nd at 5:30 p.m. from the comfort of our own homes on Zoom. We will be responsible for our own buzz; however club leadership will provide an agenda for this and every Zoom meeting until we can meet in person. (I initially wrote “face to face,” but with Zoom we will be face to face.) This is, and will be, a learning experience for all of us.
