APR 26, 2022 PRESIDENT'S LETTER
APR 28, 2022 PROGRAM ANTIGUA READING PROJECT

We are really looking forward to this coming week's speakers on April 28 at the Flatiron Building! Dr. Debbie Matz and our very own Dr. Bill Hunter will take us on their journey to Antigua. The Bethlehem Morning Star supported Dr. Matz and her work as a reading specialist, which will be used as a pilot program in the Antiguan primary schools. Our important partnership with the Antigua Ministry of Education, Lehigh University, the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown and Dr. Matz proved how collective impact can change lives!

DISTRICT CONFERENCE

This past weekend, ten Bethlehem Morning Star Rotarians gathered at the Hershey Lodge for a Tri-District Conference where we met hundreds of other like-minded individuals from Districts 7430, 7450, 7475. This was my first LIVE District Conference, but it won't be my last! The "Sweetest Conference on Earth" surrounded us with chocolate, inspiring keynote speakers, laughs, social time and a dance party! The weekend was packed with Rotary development activities, as well as professional development and networking opportunities. Some of the trainings included the following:
  • Strengthening Membership
  • Understanding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Building Rotary's Public Image
  • Putting FUN in Fundraising

District Governor Elect Len Geiseler announced the 2023 District Conference. The 007 Bond theme will be held May 5-7, 2023 at The Tropicana in Atlantic City. I highly suggest you attend!

APR 30, 2022 SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE
SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE
Many have asked how we, as Rotarians, can support the good people of Ukraine during this most devastating time. Rotary International and District #7430 have sent out some helpful information.

In response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the Rotary Foundation has made the Disaster Response Fund available as the official channel for contributions. All donations made online at [Disaster Response Fund | My Rotary] including the use of available district designated funds (DDF), need to be received by April 30, 2022 to qualify for use in support of the Ukrainian relief efforts. I made a donation today to see how it worked. It was very quick and efficient. Please make sure you have a My Rotary login before you begin in order to keep record of your donation. This will be the main avenue for Rotary Foundation support, but Rotary and Rotaract clubs are also encouraged to create their own responses to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
In addition to the support provided through the Disaster Response Fund, the Foundation is coordinating with partners and regional leaders, exploring effective solutions to the increased humanitarian needs. You will find a
comprehensive list of projects at this link:  https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50077/Documents/en-ca/a65dd71d-a99b-4de6-8a1b-f5d19e85928e/1/
