President's Message 5-28-19

“Time is too slow for those who wait,

too swift for those who fear,

too long for those who grieve,

too short for those who rejoice,

but for those who love, time is eternity.”

— Henry van Dyke

We are nearing the end of the Rotary year. At our weekly breakfast meeting on Thursday, May 30, we will take a look at the year which has brought much success and bittersweet memories.

We will also be recognizing Rotary Foundation milestones for a number of our members.  Please don't miss this meeting!!

Reminder: This Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 am, we will have the opportunity to gather together to remember our dear friend, Ron Helmuth.  The service will be held at 1st Presbyterian Church. 2344 Center St, Bethlehem, PA.

LIFE OF MILLARD COOK
Meeting May 23, 2019
(Facebook post courtesy Shawn Deiter)
We were pleased to welcome many of Millard Cook's friends who came to listen to and support him. Millard shared his fascinating family history and life journey growing up in the mountains of North Carolina to his academic days spent in France, his many travels until returning to his ancestry roots in PA, and the spiritual enlightenment he found along the way. Fast fact about Millard... he dedicated 15 years of his life as a monk.

ROTARY FOUNDATION ANNUAL SUPPORT

You have each received an email from the District explaining our status in relation to the District Annual Fund Goal for this year. Please revisit that email and consider how we continue to build and do good in the world.

If you have already donated to The Rotary Foundation since July 1, 2018, we thank you. If not, we would appreciate your consideration of donating to The Rotary Foundation by the end of May so Morning Star Rotary can once again achieve 100% participation and continue our support of this wonderful program. The Rotary Foundation is annually reported as one of the top non-profit foundations in the world.

Just a reminder, MSR has been successful in obtaining over $13,000+ in matching grant funds for our Grant project with Victory House for the next Rotary year. This is the largest grant award from the District for this year. These funds come back to the clubs only through your continued support of the Annual Fund.
