Rotarians attend to the needs of humanity around the world. Sometimes, those needs start right at home.  As our friend, Ron Helmuth, continues his fight for health in Florida, I am struck by the power of connection we all feel to each other. When Jeff Kiscka first shared the news with me, I immediately sought out a connection to Elena so we could offer support and prayers for healing.  When I emailed the entire club on Saturday morning, many replied with the caring thoughts to pass along to Ron's family.  We are connected and when any one of us hurts or is in need, we all are affected by it and feel called to help. So, I encourage you to reach out to your fellow MSR friends when in need -  It's the power of connection.  

 

 

Many thanks to Dr. Brooke Tesche and Principal John Petruzzelli for their fascinating introduction of Kolbe Academy in Bethlehem to our Morning Star Rotarians. The parochial high school hopes to transform and restore the lives of students (grades 9 thru 12) in recovery from substance addiction through a combination of individualized academic programs, supportive faculty, counseling, and reinforcing students’ accountability. The school will open August 2019. (Facebook post - credit Shawn Deiter) Note: these students are special young people literally fighting a battle of life and death.

Join us for a morning of good food and good friends as our speakers, Rick Santee, Carl Kolepp, and Judi Smullen (all either current or former Rugby players) describe in their own comical way how the game of rugby was transformative in their lives.

 

2019 is the year of the Rugby World Cup. Many are saying that rugby should replace American football as our national fall sport because of safety issues. Our speakers, always fun and funny in any situation, will have us in stitches with their adventures as rugby hookers!
