We conducted aClub Assembly during our meeting on October 22. Our focus was primarily on club membership. Relevant discussions ensued on topics such as representation in the business community in the composition of Morning Star. We noted there are members participating in various positions at the district level. Coming up, opportunities include district membership seminars and a planned mixer in January to begin evaluation of implementing a satellite club.
The question was raised as to how big we want the club to be. Some interesting thoughts were expressed as to maintaining the present membership level around 60 while focusing efforts on continuous improvement through finding solid future Morning Star Rotarians. The aging demographics of the club play a significant role in the dynamics of our future. Recruitment will be aided by continued efforts to diversify projects, especially expansion in the areas of service projects, thus promoting more interaction with potential candidates and organizations beyond primarily financial objectives.
The Rotary Leadership Institutefor our District 7430 is Saturday, November 7th in King of Prussia. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Rotary. Please register now, as the deadline is quickly approaching.

Buy (or sell) the 6 tickets (or more!) which will be given to each member by chair Gary Hartney. Adult ticket price remains $10.

Distribution to third graders is planned for November 2-6, with specific date by school to be determined. In addition to a personal dictionary for each third grader, this year Morning Star is adding 1 Spanish/English dictionary per third grade teacher!

Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary has now opened the process for organizations to apply for aCommunity Development Grant for the 2015-16 Rotary year (7/1/15 – 6/30/16). This year's theme is Youth Programs.(The PROJECT, not the organization, needs to focus on Youth.) The total budget is $8,000, and each grant will be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Please see the Request for Proposal “RFP” document which outlines the requirements, which have been streamlined to encourage additional applications. The RFP has been emailed to members plus past and identified potential grant recipients, and is available under Downloads at www.morningstarrotary.org .
We invite organizations to submit a proposal by November 13, 2015. The requirements now allow for providing online links to the requested background information on the organization rather than requiring all to be attached to the proposal.
