We have been advised that the elevator at the Flatiron Building CONTINUES to be out of service. All regular Club meetings will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity through the end of December unless notified otherwise.

The Flatiron Building continues to struggle with repairing the elevator to our meeting location. We have moved around a bit over the past several weeks, but consulting with our Board, we have decided that we will meet at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity (321 Wyandotte Street, Bethlehem) until the end of the year. The intent is not to abandon using the Community Room at the Flatiron, and any updates will be passed on as we know them. This temporary change will remove the guesswork of where the meeting place will be, provide a quieter atmosphere for those attending in-person and especially online to hear, and it offers audio visual capabilities for our speakers that Seven Sirens didn’t have available. We are very grateful for use of their space, usually on very short notice.
Many of you know that there are two parking lots at the Cathedral, one off Wyandotte (usually called the upper lot) and off 3rd Street (the lower lot). Several spaces are marked “NB” and are reserved for New Bethany. These are located closer to the New Bethany buildings. Please try to avoid these spots, though it is unlikely that many will be needed early in the morning. Access to an elevator is available from the lower lot should you need it. You may also continue to park in the lot on 4th and Wyandotte and take the short walk to the Cathedral.
In other news, the four Area 2 clubs gathered this summer for our first joint picnic in Bethlehem Township. The weather was perfect for gathering for fun, food and fellowship. We are planning to make this an annual event.
We have several happenings coming up here in the fall. Especially this week, DG Mary Cook will be joining us for her official visit and to share in the fellowship of Rotary. She will also be inducting our newest Rotarian, Fred Rooney. The Celtic Classic 5k and the Salute the Troops Concert are also coming up. We are also working on the Holiday meeting with the Liberty High Chorus. Please check the website, weekly bulletin, calendar, and any emails for other events and service project opportunities.
At our September 11, 2025 meeting, MSR Foundation Chair Tom Hartzell presented Holly Sachdev with her PHF+2 pin, recognizing her ongoing support of the Rotary Foundation. Congratulations and thank you Holly for your support.
At our September 11, 2025 weekly meeting, Morning Star Rotary welcomed Mike Hosfeld, Job Works Coordinator and Mark Napierkowski, Development Director from Mercy School for Special Learning in Allentown. Mike and Mark spoke about the school's mission and programs for students with disabilities, including academic and life skills training, as well as work experience opportunities. They provided us with information on fundraising efforts, including an upcoming spaghetti dinner event.

Our Celtic Classic 5K Race is less than two weeks away. We have sponsors, we have runners, now we need volunteers to help with setup and clean up, registration, food service, and course marshals. A volunteer sign up sheet will be available at the club meeting on Thursday, and I would ask that everyone available sign up to ensure a successful event. If you are unable to attend the club meeting, you can contact Tom Hartzell to advise him you will volunteer. Otherwise, you can expect a phone call asking for your help. Thanks in advance.
Once again Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary is partnering with the Monocacy Creek Watershed Association for their annual Fall Stream Clean-up on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 9-11:30 AM. The meet-up location is at Johnston Park. Parking Lot at the Luckenbach Mill, 459 Old York Rd., Bethlehem 18018
Bethlehem Emergency Shelter, in partnership with The Freezer Ministry and Garden Gatherers, will be hosting a Hut on Main Street in downtown Bethlehem in November and December to collect donations, and bring awareness about the unsheltered and food insecurity by handing out cookies. They expect to hand out over 5,000 holiday cookies and snickerdoodle bars this year. If you are interested in baking or sponsoring cookies, contact Cookie Coordinator Blake Messman at 484-894-3295.
