THIS WEEK'S SPEAKER
SOUTHSIDE ARTS DISTRICT
Our speaker at our February 15, 20024 meeting was Erin Zebertavage, Downtown Manager of the Southside Arts District. Erin gave us an overview of the organization and highlighted their art installations, revitalization projects, and events.

“Located in the heart of Downtown Bethlehem, the Southside Arts District (SSAD) is a revitalization initiative of the Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to improve the economic conditions for businesses and institutions located in the core business district of South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Formally organized in 2015 in partnership with Lehigh University and the Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation, the SouthSide Arts District follows the nationally recognized Main Street Four-Point Approach from the National Main Street Program, with volunteer based committees focused on the Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Vitality of South Bethlehem.”

SHELTERBOX

SHELTERBOX IS RESPONDING IN GAZA
ShelterBox is working to deliver vital emergency shelter and household items to thousands of individuals in Gaza who have been displaced from their homes.

ShelterBox is committed to responding to the humanitarian needs of those impacted by conflict. Currently, the urgent need is in Gaza, where up to 1.9 million people have been displaced and are forced to seek refuge in community facilities such as schools, makeshift shelters, or exposed areas. Within these makeshift displacement centers, overcrowding is severe, diseases are spreading, and individuals lack necessary protection from harsh weather conditions.

Responding in Gaza will be challenging; however, ShelterBox has extensive experience working in complex crises  and getting aid to severely affected areas.

Essential items such as tarps and rope will aid in repairing damaged structures and waterproofing shelters. Blankets, mattresses, pillows, and ground mats will provide warmth and comfort. Additionally, we will be supplying hygiene kits containing essentials such as diapers, toothbrushes, and sanitary items, along with water carriers and kitchen sets to support basic needs.

In 2024, ShelterBox is committed to numerous responses, including ongoing support for communities in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mozambique, the Philippines, Somalia, Syria, Ukraine, and beyond.

ShelterBox has initiated an urgent fundraising campaign to address the pressing needs in Gaza and other crisis-stricken areas globally.

Your contribution is crucial in enabling us to swiftly deliver emergency shelter and vital supplies to those displaced in Gaza and beyond. Your support today will directly impact those most in need, ensuring essential aid reaches them promptly.

Please donate now to make a difference.
