Please join fellow Rotarians, family and friends for Morning Star Rotary's annual Kickout Party as we celebrate Rod's past year as Club President. This is in lieu of the July First Thursday/Happy Hour meeting. Again, there will be NO meeting on Thursday, July 6th.

Attendees: Please bring an appetizer/snack food, salad or side dish.

(Club is getting a cake, and one member already volunteered to bring dessert.)

Club will provide BBQ and buns, paper goods, water, soft drinks, beer & wine.

Please bring a lawn chair in case we are able to party outdoors! Much appreciated.

Morning Star Rotary of Bethlehem Changeover Meeting 6/29/23.

Congratulations to outgoing President Rod Seifert and best wishes to 2023-2024 President Betty Isaacs and the incoming Officers and Board of Directors. Thank you to DG Diane Donaher for administering the oaths of office and AG Kathy Heller and all the Past MSR Presidents for their participation in the ceremony. We are looking forward to a fantastic 2023-2024 serving our community and the world. #PeopleOfAction

Research shows that positive club leadership is a major factor in the growth of a club. Yes, one person can make a difference! But it's the culture you create by working with the Board and engaging all members that will create the successful projects for your community and communities around the world. JUN 29, 2023 WENDY ELLSWORTH CLASSIFICATION TALK

Adding to the festivities, Wendy Ellsworth, a "special long-distance Morning Star Rotarian," was present, live and in person, to give her Classification talk. Wendy is one of our Women of Action Rotarians. She took us through her evolution to how she became a very focused advocate and dedicated fundraiser helping guide women and children in Kenya attain significantly improved economic and educational opportunities. The Kenya Grants are successful achievements of Wendy and the WOA's efforts.

Please see the following Kenya Grants update article. The team is seeking Volunteers to join in the next trip. From those who have already gone, there have been many heartwarming stories of their experiences and how they continue to help our friends in Kenya.

JUN 29, 2023 Kenya Grants and Next Trip Updates - Looking for Volunteers

Good Afternoon MSR!

I hope that everyone is enjoying a safe and happy holiday weekend.

I wanted to update everyone about our two Kenyan grants and invite anyone who is interested to consider coming with us on our next Kenyan working adventure!

Our District Grant - The Machakos School Revitalization School Grant has received final approval from RI. We expect to receive District Grant funds in August and the project will move forward that month as there is a school holiday.

Our Maternal and Child Global Grant has completed all the fine print and the funds have been released to the Isiolo Club. That project will be ongoing for many months and we will provide updates.

Both projects are expected to have additional phases, funded by Rotarians and/or other interested partners so we are planning a second, self-funded trip in late January and would love to include anyone who is interested in joining the team.

Here are the tentative details of the trip:

Dates: Jan 28th - returning Feb 10th (landing in US)

Estimated cost: $3000-$3500: which includes double occupancy lodging, most food, all in-country transportation, economy airfare from JFK (which at this point is around $900) to Nairobi and some fun excursions.

Estimated costs are subject to change and do not include: transportation to JFK, your trip to the travel doctor, visa ($45?), passport, souvenir shopping, alcohol etc..., Last trip, covid vaccines were mandatory to enter the country so if you are an anti-vaxer....

Also note, there is not a single bottle of diet coke in the entire country of Kenya, starting when you get on the plane - but all of the food and drink is delicious

AUG 4-6, 2023 DAS AWKSCHT FESCHT VOLUNTEERS

MSR Rotarians:

Last month, PDG Bob Hobaugh made a presentation to our club regarding the history of and information about this year’s Das Awkscht Fescht. This year will celebrate the 60^th anniversary of the “The August Festival” with the 70^th anniversary of the Corvette with all generations of Vettes on display as the feature car.

PDG Bob has asked for district Rotarian volunteers to assist at the festival. Per PDG Bob, Rotarian volunteers get food and entrance to the park on the days they serve. He needs the following Rotarians to fill these volunteer slots: (a) 2 Rotarians for pin location Monday, 7/24/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 7 am; (b) 2 Rotarians for stake out Monday, 7/31/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 2 pm; (c) 2 Rotarians for parking directions Friday, 8/4/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 7 am; (d) 2 Rotarians for registration tent Saturday, 8/5/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 7 am; (e) 10 Rotarians for parking directions Saturday, 8/5/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 7 am; (f) 2 Rotarians for registration tent Sunday, 8/6/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 7 am; (g) 4 Rotarians for parking directions Sunday, 8/6/23 Macungie Memorial Park at 7 am.
