At our Sept Rotary Club Board meeting, by unanimous vote, Arthur Weinrach was made an Honorary Member of our club for his generosity over the years and ongoing interest in supporting Rotary not only financially, but in spirit. Art is now a member of an exclusive group who have earned the designation of honorary members of Allentown Rotary: Ellen Baker Ghelardi, Grant Fox, and Dick Snyder.
When Arthur was notified, he replied "Thanks ... I am humbled and honored to be considered so kindly and thoughtfully. A wonderful 81st birthday present!"Arthur, who moved with his wife from Philadelphia to the Lehigh Valley 50 years ago, has a long history of volunterism and philanthropy. He has volunted at Congregation Sons of Israel, where he served a term as president. He has held board and/or officer positions, at Jewish Federation (where he has been an active campaign and committee worker), Jewish Family Service, Jewish Day School (where his 3 children attended), Allentown Rotary, Program for Women and Families, and the Literacy Center. Arthur was inspired by philanthropic family members like his mother, Mildred Berkowitz, who served as National President of Junior Hadassah.
