President Kris's message

"Why I like Rotary"
When my friends heard I would be President of our Club the common question was “why do you like Rotary”.  The answer was simple.  Our club is like Goldilocks, not too big and not too small.  I enjoy the comradery with our members, we have a nice blend of service projects that help a variety of institutions, and we hear from local youth with Students of the Month.   I’ve made many friends since I joined this club in 2014.
Our meetings have great speakers. The children’s books we give as a thank you are given to Children’s Aid Society and the YWCA.
I know the responsibilities of this position will have its rewards and its challenges.  My theme as your President is "Just one time"

I'm asking each member to:
  • Make a one-time donation of at least $25 to Rotary Foundation
  • Sign up just one time for a service project
During my year I hope to just one time:
  • Give a Rotary fact you didn’t know
  • Offer information about a historical event
  • Tickle your funny bone with a bad dad joke (my husband is King).
It is an honor to be your President.  I hope to serve you well.
Kris

York East Rotary 23rd annual golf outing was a success!  Thank you to all that donated, volunteered, and played in the tournament.
June 17, 2025 — The 23rd Annual York-East Rotary Club Golf Outing, held on Tuesday, June 17, at Heritage Hills Golf Resort, was once again a resounding success, raising more than $20,000 to support local charities and youth programs throughout the community. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, and nearly 70 golfers who teed off under cloudy skies. Events like this directly benefited these local organizations in 2025: Glen Hope Care Farms, Catholic Harvest Food Pantry, Pappus House,  “Each year we are amazed by the support we receive,” said Golf Committee Chair Diana Papale. “It’s about more than just golf—it’s about helping people and creating real, positive change right here in York County.” In addition to charitable donations, the funds raised also support youth development initiatives. Two outstanding high school seniors received scholarships from the club to further their education. Meanwhile, two rising juniors are registered to attend the 2025 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference, where they will join students from across the region to grow their leadership and teamwork skills. The day included a full round of golf, lunch, raffles, and prizes—all made possible through the support of volunteers, sponsors, and participants. The York-East Rotary Club extends sincere thanks to all who made the day a success and looks forward to building on this momentum for future events.
“This outing continues to reflect the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self,’” said Club President Greg Kern. “It’s a great example of how fellowship and fundraising can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
