Four Way Test – Club Meeting Style

As you know Students of the Month was the scheduled program for our last meeting on December 16th but Mother Nature had a different idea.  The weather was cold and windy that day with lows around 20F and a bit of overnight snow.  Guess we shouldn’t have been surprised the schools had a two-hour delay but getting notice at 10pm on Monday night meant it was too late to cancel our breakfast meeting.  We needed a different program and fast!

It seems asking members to respond to a question has become my “go to” backup program.  “What are you thankful for?” worked great at our week of Thanksgiving meeting.  This time the question was “What is your favorite family or high school story?”  I’ve applied the answers to Rotary’s Four Way Test.

Lou Lavetan’s told of skipping high school for a day of beer drinking at Chickie’s Rock with three friends and getting caught.  His three friends devised excuses that the principle saw through but not Lou.  Telling the truth kept him out of trouble and apply the first of Rotary’s Four Way Test Is it the Truth as he walked past the detention hall that his friends had to attend. Lisa Striffler learned the meaning of leaving money on the table during a family trip when her father turned the car around to return the waitress’ tip money to the restaurant.  Everyone had an opportunity to speak applies to the second part, Is it Fair for all Concerned.  One by one stories that warmed the heart were heard and apply to the third part Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships.

This month starts our membership drive.  Our new member meeting will be held in April.  Please consider inviting a friend or family member to consider joining. (I’m still working on my veterinarian to join us).  Being part of Rotary Club of York East will be Beneficial to all Concerned.

Did you hear the rumor about butter?

Well, I’m not going to spread it!
