SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
York East, when asked to step up to the plate you respond!
Don’t Quit!
My last newsletter article encouraged everyone to think about how you can “Do Rotary Different” by thinking outside of the usual contributors that make our Golf Outing a success.  I’m not going to say that we have reached our goal because we have not.  But we have made great strides.
A week ago we had financial commitments to the golf outing at about $9k and had 22 golfers.  Within a week’s time things have changed considerably but…We are not there yet! As of this week (last week of Aug) we are at $18k in sponsorships to reach a goal of $20k.  Our golfer count is now close to 40 but way short of a goal of 80+.
Soo close but DON’T QUIT!!!!

Sponsors are important but golfers make up a huge part of our income.  On any given day, golfers can add another $2k-$3k on the day of the event alone by purchasing mulligans, raffle tickets, etc!!!  Fewer golfers means that figure drops significantly.  I drive on Mt Rose Avenue a lot.  KD Rosengrant is a small business remodeler located between Hill and Ogontz Street. They continuously rotate quirky (but relevant) messages on their sign on Mt Rose and have different messages on both the West and East bound sides.   Recently, I took notice to what is on the East Bound side of that sign (words may not be exact but the message is close to this)…”Don’t give up until you are proud of what you accomplished”

Regarding our major fundraising event…
can you say you are proud of what you accomplished?

My Rotary “Do Rotary Different” challenge to you as engaged members…reach out to our current members that may not be as engaged and ask if they will participate.

Don’t Quit!
Greg

Don’t miss out on attending the best golf tournament in town!

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th!!
Did you save the date yet?
What’s that you say??  You don’t golf?
Well funny thing, neither do we! But that doesn’t mean you can’t attend our
one and only club fundraiser!!

There are lots of ways to get involved this year and we need everyone to help to be a big success.
First of all, join us!  We have an entire day of fun and if you only want to stop by for a breakfast sandwich or for the buffet at the end, we can certainly get you a price to just attend, eat and see the beginning/end of the event.
Or if you feel like being a friendly face, we would love your help by greeting the golfers and twisting their arms to empty their wallets at our registration area.
Are you actually busy on that Tuesday, like legit scheduled to do something important?  Fine, we understand.  But we can use help BEFORE the event.
  • Donate a NEW ITEM or a GIFT CARD to help us plump up our raffles
  • Ask a friend, neighbor, business colleague, relative, mailman, fellow church attendee, favorite waitress, etc. if they golf – then give them our golf brochure!
  • Know someone who owns a business?  Know someone who works for a business?  Know anyone who walks into a business?  Maybe you can give them a brochure and ask them if they would consider sponsoring.  Did you know our sponsorships come with advertising opportunities??  It is a great way to promote a business 😊
  • Donate 100-120 of a promo item for our welcome bags
  • Share this info on social media and with everyone you know!
Remember – a huge part of our Rotary Club is giving.  The philanthropic part of our club is being funded by this event and we need everyone’s help to make it a success.  If you can’t help in any of these ways, feel free to reach out to us to tell us how you can help.  Thanks so much!
