Homeless Initiatives
Home. Something we easily get used to and often take for granted. Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. But many people in our community are facing homelessness. The Rotary Club of Harrisburg Homeless Initiatives Committee partners with the Capital Area Coalition on Homelessness to support people who lack adequate housing.
Initiatives
Overnight Shelters - each winter our Club provides volunteers who help staff two winter overnight shelters that are run by Christian Churches United. One shelter for men and one shelter for women.
Joy to the Burg
Joy to the Burg is the collaborative effort of local musicians who support homelessness programs by volunteering their recording talent to produce a Christmas album called Joy to the Burg.
Rotary Club of Harrisburg is an official partner of Joy to the Burg.
From last year's Joy to the Burg album, Sarah Sheriff and Grant Bryan, of the Grant Bryan Band, play "Run Run Rudolph," and Steve Clay, and Greg Platzer, of the band, Grumpy, play "Winter Wonderland."
