Donate to the Judson Fellowship Fund
Beth Mihmet
To remember Rotarians we have lost, and to pursue the ongoing development of a membership whose diversity is reflective of the Harrisburg Community, we are now encouraging memorial gifts to the Judson Fellowship Fund. Once fully funded, this fellowship will provide at least one club membership for a Judson Fellow every year.
Anyone can recommend a potential new member for a Judson Fellowship by sharing their name with the board president along with a brief statement on why they are recommending them. Ideally, Judson Fellows will address club goals for diversity, equity and inclusion based on their age, ethnicity, race, disability, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sexual orientation or gender identity.
To generate enough annual income to provide for the fellowship, it is estimated that at least $23,000 will be needed. Your tax-deductible gift will help the club to develop a membership whose diversity is a beautiful reflection of the Harrisburg community that we love.
Donations can be made by a check payable to Harrisburg Rotary Foundation or by clicking the link below.

Combatting Local Period Poverty
In a multi-organization collaboration, about 30 Rotarians gathered at the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania on Monday, August 2 to assemble period hygiene kits for local individuals whose monthly supplies can be financially burdensome.
By partnering with the Period Project Harrisburg, Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA, Savory Occasions, Highmark, Latino Hispanic American Community Center, and other local health-focused organizations, we were able to reach far more community members than we could have on our own.
Together, we provided about a month's worth of period hygiene supplies to 500 people. 200 of the kits were distributed to clients of the Latino Hispanic American Community Center with their weekly food pick-ups. LHACC also distributed the Girl Scouts' surplus of hand sanitizer to Harrisburg residents at National Night Out on Tuesday.
The remaining 300 kits are being distributed by other partners of the Period Project including LOOP Ministries, Alder Health Services and the Beacon Clinic.
Kathleen Frascona represented the Period Project Harrisburg and live- streamed part of the event on her Facebook page. She said, "From the Period Project, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for getting out there and making our community a better place."
"Period hygiene supplies is one of the most overlooked monthly expenses in a family's budget. Budget coaching for folks getting back on their feet rarely even mentions this basic need. Maybe it's embarrassing to some people. It's unfortunate that people experiencing period poverty will miss school or work-- or even worse-- use unsafe hygiene practices that can cause medical issues-- because those who can easily assist with this need are too embarrassed to even talk about it. We at the Rotary Club of Harrisburg are proud to support the Period Project Harrisburg and are thankful for their valuable service to the Harrisburg community."
