The basis of good health and economic stability is access to clean, safe drinking water. Nearly 3.5 million people die each year from a water-related disease. For most of the world, clean water is a miracle.
As Rotarians, we understand the importance of clean water.
By partnering with other Rotary Clubs or partnering with other reputable organizations, we seek to make a life-changing difference in the lives of people in our world by being involved with projects and initiatives that result in sustainable access to clean water.

Lecture by Ginny Roth, Monday at 6 PM,
“Four Generations of Strong Women in Harrisburg”
On Monday, March 22nd at 6 PM, The Historic Harrisburg Association will host a live presentation entitled “Four Generations of Strong Women in Harrisburg.” by Virginia Roth, president of PPO&S Advertising & Marketing. (The firm is headquartered on Second Street in the city and was on Historic Harrisburg’s 2016 Candlelight House Tour). This FREE event will be via Zoom webinar, accessible on the web at www.historicharrisburg.org.
As part of her family ancestry work, Roth has researched the Harrisburg-based homes and addresses of four generations of her family. Her research has been conducted over the past five years and as assembled, has resulted in a fascinating story of remarkable women who since 1900, have headed city-based households and businesses. Ginny has been a member of Rotary Club of Harrisburg for more than 30 years and was its 1998 Community Service Award recipient.

Celebrating 75 Years of Joint International Service
The United Nations (UN) serves as a global forum where countries raise and discuss the most difficult issues, including problems of health, climate, education and peace. Since helping to charter the United Nations in 1945, Rotarians and the United Nations have worked together toward peace and addressing humanitarian issues worldwide.
In September 2020, the United Nations reaffirmed its commitment to leave no-one behind, protect our planet, promote peace, engage young people and be better prepared for future crises. These are opportunities for us to take action.
On 10 April 2021, join people of action from around the world for an online event “75 Years of Action,” celebrating Rotarians’ lasting support of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals.
This event- a live premier of reflections and flash talks with first-hand experiences- will emphasize UN officials and Rotarians’ shared values and ongoing history of empowering and connecting people to opportunities through a series of flash talks and brief discussions.
We are excited to be your guides as we set out exploring new opportunities together. Our path will take us into a world of leadership, learning, fellowship and fun! All from the comfort of your own home!
This exciting adventure will also include the opportunity to join with fellow Rotarians safely in service throughout the three districts!

He became PA’s 52nd and first African-American Auditor General earlier this year. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree, and yet most importantly an associates degree from HACC!. Mr. DeFoor complimented Rotary Club for the great work done in the community and internationally. His format was quite conversational. He is from Susquehanna Township in Harrisburg, although was originally from Toledo OH. His family moved to Harrisburg when his father was transferred to the area. He is grateful for the influence of a professor at HACC, who challenged him towards excellence. This foundation of confidence helped him become the leader he is today. He has done many types of investigations into fraud and abuse in his career, including in healthcare and in insurance. He has also audited federal auditors as well. He loves auditing, and also giving back to the community. This is why he chose to run for the office of Auditor General. He shared about many challenges and joys of his positions. He will continue to serve in the best manner he can.
Mr. DeFoor then took some time to respond to questions from the members. President James expressed his appreciation on behalf of the club for his service to the Commonwealth, and for his presence and presentation at our meeting today.
