Peaches! Boy, oh boy, I love peaches! What? What am I doing? Well, I was just thinking about the peaches I enjoyed for breakfast today and how wonderful fresh fruit is on a hot summer day. Sure, I guess I can also pen the minutes of the August 29th meeting of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg but only if I can keep thinking about yummy fresh fruit.
Strawberries! No matter how you dice them you have to love strawberries---and on top of shortcake too! Meeting kicked off at 12:12 sharp with a full house and gong on the bell by President Beth who introduced Kool Kevin and Marvelous Marion to offer today’s invocation and Club song. Greeter extraordinaire Miriam welcomed guests of Beth, Toni, Wendell and Me---noting she gave them this year’s Rotary theme pin as gentle suggestion of membership.
Watermelon! How much watermelon can you eat? Bruce Grossman invited all Club skiers to consider joining Rotary members from around the world at this year’s Rotary sponsored trips to Park City Utah and to Japan. Send photos from the top if you go! Beth encouraged less travel and just as much fun if you sign up for the bike ride to support Polio eradication on October 1st---don’t spin your wheels go ahead and sign up now.
Cantaloupe! Does the quip go, you can get married, but you can’t elope? All kidding aside, we raised $153 to End Polio now via Good News Reporting! Sure, it was sweet to hear that our Annual Pancake Breakfast is slated for October 8th---gear up and volunteer please. Indeed, there was lots of good news and thankful to our generous members for sharing and donating for this great cause.
Blueberries! Color me purple, but Blueberries are a favorite. (Gail freezes them and the grandkids eat them frozen as a sweet wonderful treat.) Ellen in her witty wonderful way introduced today’s guest speaker, Skip Weber, Head of the Milton Hershey Schools. Skip was just as cool as those blueberries in outlining his obvious pride in representing this great legacy of Milton Hershey.
Corn on the Cob! Sure, I can switch from fruit to veggies as long as I stay with the summer time best! Our speaker was the best in outlining the goals of the school and faculty and how they know that to whom much is given, much is expected and how these students are supported from day one until well after they leave the campus. I hope you attended this meeting in person or via Zoom and that you get a chance to enjoy lots of yummy summer fruit. Meeting adjourned 1:00 sharp.
