Capital Region Water
Charlotte Katzenmoyer - CEO
Hi Rotarians!
It's a sweltering 94 degrees out today so make sure you stay hydrated and keep those dogs inside today as the pavement can burn their little pooch pads!
Capital Region Water has done a phenomenal job maintaining our fresh drinking water and managing our storm water here in the great city of Harrisburg. Together along with the City of Harrisburg - they have teamed up to make sure we have the funding to maintain and replace the aging infrastructure. A new plan was recently approved to enhance the system.
The plan proposes a total capital investment of approximately $1.43 billion over 40 years. Extending the implementation period over 40 years will help minimize undue financial strain on customers. CRW already has invested more than $200 million since its inception in 2013 to restore failing infrastructure, reduce combined sewer discharges, improve the health of local waterways, and beautify neighborhoods through community greening.
Not only will we have Charlotte with us, but her team has generously volunteered a tour right after the meeting (1PM to 2:30PM) to see the clean drinking water system at their Dr. Robert E. Young Water Services Center: 100 Pine Drive Harrisburg, PA 17103.
The Club is very excited for this meeting and look forward to her thoughts.
