July 18, 2022

Superman, Batman, Spiderman…what, what am I doing? Well, I was just compiling a list of my favorite Superheroes. Sure, I can pen the July 18 meeting minutes of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg as long as I can keep going with my list.
Super Girl, Iron Man, Thor…President Beth banged the bell like Thor would in greeting the full-house of members and guests with “so glad to be with you.” Terrific Toni Mark and Jamming John Hickey provided the days invocation and club song and Fabulous Frank Frailey assisted by Scott Microphone Stevens welcomed our 19 guests today (kudos to Rotarians’ Lutz, Hickey, Roth, Anthony, Alexander, Reber, Swain, Hoover, Bedard and Martone for inviting such a smorgasbord of wonderful guests.)
Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi , Luke Skywalker….can’t make this list without including some Star War folks in honor of President Beth who asked Amy to remind everyone about our Fellowship event next Wednesday 5-7 PM at the City Island Beach Club and who reminded us all to use ClubRunner to register for events before handing the mic to Wonder Woman Jill Tenny. Jill is District and Club Chair for Rotary's Youth Exchange Program, as well as our Club’s 1st ever outbound exchange student! Jill was happy to introduce this year’s outbound Geoff Harper. Geoff made a super fun outline of his upcoming year in Thailand---all the best Captain America.
Green Lantern, Silver Surfer, Invisible Woman…our very own Excellent Ellen Brown provided a witty wonderful introduction for Mayor Wanda R. D. Williams that included a warm story of the Mayor hosting a dinner for fire victims and finished with a standing ovation for the Mayor. Our Mayor was gracious and thankful in noting her 57 years in our city and grateful for our trust and support and promising the best is yet to come.
Aquaman, Flash, Human Torch…this scribe hopes you were able to attend today and hear first-hand how our Hero of a Mayor is embracing Service Above Self and working tirelessly to invest the $47 M Covid Rescue money to support our youth and seniors with a laser focus on affordable housing, home repairs, and playground upgrades including a new waterpark. We were thanked for volunteering to assist with plants in City Hall and urged to take pride in our city.
Bell was dinged at 12:57 and members and guests donned capes and flew off to do good deeds throughout our fair city….
