You know it's not too often that someone is able to reverse the trends. While we can surely influence the club, there are no paths to success and we need to try all methodologies to create a vibrant and welcoming enviromonment.
As such Past President Scott Stevens made it his mission to grow the club in reverse order. Create an environment that was cool. Create a club that was hip. More importantly create a club that was extravagantly welcome. And in doing so he created the monster that is the Spirits of Service - a Rotary Bourbon and membership drive.
During it's 2nd innaugural event, this time held at the Triad Strategies rooftop penthouse office, we were able to squeeze 37 people on the roof. Over 18 members but more importantly 25 guests came to see what Rotary was all about. And boy was it a party!
From this event we solicited and made 4 new Rotary members. It was wildly successful and continues the legacy of one of the Mt. Rushmore of Rotarians Scott Stevens legacy.
Betty Hungerford, John Judson, Andy Rebuck and now Scott have cemented themselves into the Hall of Fame. And we continue to teach those lessons to all new members who join our club.
